WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Clay Higgins (R-LA), Chairman of the Oversight Subcommittee on Federal Law Enforcement, will launch an investigation into the leak of highly sensitive, internal government documents that detailed the apprehension and deportation of illegal migrants by law enforcement officers.
In early February, a federal official shared information with the media about the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) actions in both Denver and Los Angeles. This leak put the safety and security of Americans at risk by providing confidential information to dangerous criminals so they could evade arrest and deportation.
Congressman Higgins has requested a staff-level briefing with the Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Kash Patel, as well as the Acting Directors of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, Explosives (ATF), and ICE.
“The recent breach of federal immigration enforcement operations has put our national security at risk and jeopardized the life of every American,” said Congressman Higgins. “President Trump is working to secure our border and put an end to the Biden administration’s open-border policies. The leak of classified information has allowed criminals to evade apprehension and has caused serious harm to our country. In my continued efforts for full transparency, my first investigation as Chairman of the Subcommittee on Federal Law Enforcement will work to hold these deep-state leakers accountable and prevent any further leaks from happening.”
