WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Clay Higgins (R-LA) sent a letter to Governor John Bel Edwards, again requesting a temporary reduction or suspension in Louisiana’s severance tax on oil and gas.
The letter reads, in part, “If we act now, we can mitigate injury to our workforce and U.S. production capacity. If we do nothing, Louisiana could face massive job losses and the permanent departure of our cornerstone industry along with thousands of Louisiana families who will be forced to move to neighboring states.”

Congressman Higgins also called for a suspension of the severance tax in a March 23 letter to Governor Edwards. In recent weeks, Congressman Higgins has pushed a number of state and federal actions that are necessary to protect oil and gas jobs. Read more about those efforts here.
