WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Clay Higgins (R-LA) issued the following statement after the House unanimously passed H.R. 7575, the Water Resources Development Act (WRDA) of 2020, which authorizes the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Civil Works Program.
“Our ports and waterways are powerful economic engines for South Louisiana. This WRDA bill prioritizes Louisiana’s maritime infrastructure and makes improvements to benefit ongoing dredging efforts. This includes our amendment supporting the Calcasieu Channel. We’ll continue working to strengthen this critical infrastructure and grow our economy.”
Congressman Higgins’ amendment expediting access to sediment disposal sites for the Calcasieu Channel dredging project was included in the final bill. More information on the amendment is available here.
