LAKE CHARLES, LA – Congressman Clay Higgins (R-LA) and U.S. Transportation Secretary Elaine L. Chao announced today that Chennault International Airport will receive $202,000 in funding from the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The grant will help reconstruct 750 feet of the existing taxiway pavement.
“Chennault has an enormous economic impact in Southwest Louisiana, supporting 1,500 jobs and contributing nearly $300 million to the local economy each year. This investment allows for continued growth while also ensuring the airfield remains safe and reliable for industry,” said Congressman Higgins.
“Infrastructure projects funded by these grants will advance safety, improve travel, generate jobs and provide other economic benefits for local communities,” said Secretary Chao.
