ACADIA PARISH
The Acadia Parish Police Jury will begin offering sandbags to residents in the parish beginning today.

All parish barns will be open for sandbagging today from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Residents will be asked for identification upon arriving.

Parish barn locations open today include:

  • Iota
  • Branch
  • Crowley

The City of Crowley will begin providing sandbags on Tuesday, September 4 beginning at 7:30 am at the public works building.

No decision has been made on times or locations for the city of Rayne and town of Church Point. The Acadia Parish Police Jury will update when those decisions have been made.


CALCASIEU PARISH

The public must furnish their own shovels.

  • Ward 1 Barn: 461 Parish Road, Moss Bluff
  • Ward 3 Old Barn: 2320 Smith Road, Lake Charles
  • Ward 3 Barn / East Public Works Facility: James Sudduth Parkway, behind 5500B Swift Plant Road, Lake Charles
  • Ward 4: Public Works West Maintenance Facility: 2915 Post Oak Road Sulphur, LA
  • Ward 8 Barn: 1726 Parish Barn Road, Iowa
  • Ward 5: Corner of Berry and Third streets, Starks
  • Ward 7 – Vinton (Edgerly) Fire Station: 2205 La. 388, Vinton (Edgerly)
  • Ward 7 Fire Department: 2815 Foreman Road, Vinton
  • Ward 6 Barn: 1275 Plum Street, DeQuincy
  • Ward 2 Barn: 7085 La. 14 East, Hayes

Note: Ward 4 Sulphur Police Dept is NOT a sandbag location and Burton Complex is NOT a sandbag location


IBERIA PARISH

  • B.O.M. Fire Station
  • Grand Marais Fire Station
  • Coteau Fire Station
  • Rynella Fire Station
  • Delcambre City Barn
  • Loreauville Park
  • Jeanerette Fire Department (Church St location). The Fire Department said they we will assist elderly or disabled residents.

You do need to bring your own shovels.


LAFAYETTE PARISH
The Lafayette Department of Public Works will open two sandbag stations for Lafayette Parish residents.

LCG says that residents wishing to sandbag their property may access sandbags at one of two locations:

  • LCG Compost Facility, located at 400 N Dugas Rd., off North University Ave. (permanent, regular sandbag site)
  • South District sandbag site, located at 1017 Fortune Rd. in Youngsville (permanent, regular sandbag site)

Sandbags are available at both sites 24 hours a day.

Residents will have to fill sandbags on their own. Bags and sand will be provided to Lafayette Parish residents at no charge but residents will need to bring their own shovel fill bags themselves. Residents are asked to limit their sandbags to four bags per exterior door, with a maximum of 20 sandbags per household.


ST. LANDRY PARISH
Sandbag filling locations will be available at two sites in St. Landry Parish on Tuesday, September 4, at 8:00 am. The sites will require residents to fill their own bags. Sand and bags will be provided, residents should bring their own shovel. The locations are only being set up as a precaution.

ST. MARTIN PARISH

St. Martin Parish has been closely monitoring the potential high water effects associated with the current weather system affecting our area. Although the impact to St. Martin Parish is expected to be minimal, we wish to exercise proactive precautions.

Our plan for Lower St. Martin will be addressed after our next National Hurricane Center update. Thus far, effects for this region are also expected to be minimal. However, we will pay particular attention to potential developments in this area.

Pre-filled sandbags will be available from 11:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. at the Ruth Barn, located at 1035 Ruth Bridge Highway, Breaux Bridge. There will be a 25 bag limit per person.


ST. MARY PARISH
Sand and sandbags will be available beginning Tuesday, Sept 4 at the following locations:

  • Amelia, under Hwy. 182 Bridge
  • Bayou Vista Public Works Barn
  • District 11 Fire Station, Four Corners
  • Hanson Public Works Barn
  • Baldwin Town Hall
  • Bring your own shovel.

VERMILION PARISH

  • MAURICE: Sand and bags are available for residents and businesses of the Village of Maurice at 115 Corine Street in front of the fence. Those who want to fill bags must bring their own shovel. Sandbags are limited to 10 per person.
  • ABBEVILLE: Residents of the city of Abbeville can pick up sandbags at the city barn, 811 Godchaux, between 6:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Tuesday, September 4. You must bring proof of residence (ID, a current utility bill, etc.) to receive sandbags.
