WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Clay Higgins (R-LA) and Senator John Kennedy (R-LA) sent a letter today to Administrator Jovita Carranza requesting a 30-day extension for Hurricane Laura survivors to seek U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) disaster assistance. The change would extend the application period to November 27, which is the same deadline for Hurricane Laura assistance through FEMA.
The letter reads, in part, “Hurricane Laura was one of the most powerful hurricanes to strike Louisiana, and there are still thousands of households and businesses without power or internet access in Louisiana. Recovery efforts in the area were impacted by Hurricane Delta, which further contributed to delays in the recovery process. Given the unique circumstances with multiple hurricanes and the ongoing pandemic, we believe this extension is warranted.”
Louisiana homeowners and businesses can apply for assistance here.
