WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Clay Higgins (R-LA) announced tonight that President Trump has approved Louisiana’s request for a major disaster declaration in response to Hurricane Delta.
The declaration includes both individual and public assistance for Acadia, Calcasieu, Cameron, Jeff Davis, and Vermilion parishes.
Additional designations may be made at a later date if requested by the State and warranted by the results of further damage assessments. To assist with this effort, citizens can self-report damages at https://damage.la.gov.
Congressman Higgins issued the following statement:
“President Trump has approved Louisiana’s request for a major disaster declaration in response to Hurricane Delta. I’m grateful for the President’s quick response and his continued support for the people of Louisiana. Stand strong. Additional resources are on the way.”
Congressman Higgins sent a letter to President Trump on October 14 urging him to approve the State’s request for an expedited major disaster declaration. That letter can be read here.
