WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Clay Higgins (R-LA) delivered several letters of support this week for the City of Lake Charles’ grant applications for federal recovery and mitigation resources.
The applications include grants through the Department of Housing & Urban Development’s (HUD) Choice Neighborhood program, the Economic Development Administration’s (EDA) Build Back Better program, FEMA’s Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC) program, and FEMA’s Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP).

Congressman Higgins has repeatedly encouraged state and local elected officials to pursue federal grant opportunities. He delivered letters in June and August of this year notifying state and local officials of available flood and disaster mitigation grant programs. A full timeline of Congressman Higgins’ actions on hurricane recovery is available here.
Congressman Higgins issued the following statement:
“Since January 2017, my office has directly and officially supported many hundreds of federal funding applications. While it is incumbent upon state and local officials to apply for these funds, my office stands ready to support those applications at the federal level. We continue to do exactly that, and we’re working with the City of Lake Charles to aggressively pursue additional recovery resources in response to an unprecedented year of natural disasters.”
