Higgins Appointed to Border & Maritime Security Subcommittee
Congressman Clay Higgins (R-LA) has been appointed to serve on the House Homeland Security Subcommittee on Border & Maritime Security, which is responsible for all aspects of visa, border, port, and maritime security.
The Subcommittee has jurisdiction over 51% of the DHS budget, as well as four of its seven operational components including U.S. Customs & Border Protection, Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE), the U.S. Coast Guard, and U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Services.
Congressman Higgins issued the following statement:
“I’m honored to join the Border & Maritime Security Subcommittee. I’ve been a strong proponent for securing our Southern border, including the wall and other tactical infrastructure that could virtually eliminate drug trafficking, illegal immigration, and human trafficking. This subcommittee is at the heart of those debates, and it’s important for Louisiana to have a strong voice pushing legislation that secures both our land and maritime boundaries.”
