WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Clay Higgins (R-LA) announced today that FEMA will award $14,168,295 to the City of Sulphur for debris removal operations and $19,211,022 to Jefferson Davis Electric Cooperative for power restoration efforts in response to Hurricane Laura.
FEMA recently announced that the federal share of recovery costs will increase from 75% to 90%. To account for this formula change, supplemental funding will follow for any reimbursement issued at the 75% level.
Congressman Higgins issued the following statement:
“Reimbursing state and local entities for hurricane expenses is critical to the ongoing recovery effort. My office will continue working with our federal partners to ensure these reimbursements are delivered in a timely manner.”
