WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Clay Higgins (R-LA) announced today that FEMA is awarding an additional $6,436,724.65 in Public Assistance reimbursements for hurricane recovery efforts in South Louisiana.
The funding is made available through the major disaster declaration for Hurricane Laura (DR-4559-LA), which Congressman Higgins supported.
The City of Sulphur will receive $6,436,724.65 for debris removal operations in response to Hurricane Laura. The reimbursement is made at a 100% federal cost-share and authorized under Section 407 of the Robert T. Stafford Act.
While much of our official work to advance these projects occurs behind the scenes, these funding announcements are the result of constant backchannel efforts with FEMA and state and local stakeholders. All funding will be delivered to the State of Louisiana. The state is responsible for disbursing the funds to each sub-recipient.
