WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Clay Higgins (R-LA) announced today that FEMA is awarding an additional $6,105,699.91 in Public Assistance reimbursements for hurricane recovery efforts in South Louisiana.
The funding is made available through the major disaster declaration for Hurricane Laura (DR-4559-LA), which was supported by Congressman Higgins.
The reimbursements include:
- $2,456,550.00 to the Office of Risk Management for permanent repairs to five water control structures, six monitoring platforms plus data equipment devices, and a 16-mile protection levee within the Cameron-Creole Watershed as a result of Hurricane Laura. The reimbursement is made at a 90% federal cost-share. This funding is authorized under Section 406 of the Robert T. Stafford Act.
- $2,505,462.48 to the Louisiana Department of Military for emergency protective measures as a result of Hurricane Laura. The reimbursement is made at a 100% federal cost-share. This funding is authorized under Section 403 of the Robert T. Stafford Act.
- $1,143,687.43 to the Town of Iowa for debris removal operations in response to Hurricane Laura. The reimbursement is made at a 90% federal cost-share. This funding is authorized under Section 403 of the Robert T. Stafford Act.
All funding will be delivered to the State of Louisiana. The state is responsible for disbursing the funds to each sub-recipient.
