WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Clay Higgins (R-LA) announced today that FEMA is awarding an additional $5,497,047.32 in Public Assistance reimbursements for hurricane recovery efforts in South Louisiana.
The funding is made available through major disaster declarations for Hurricane Laura (DR-4559-LA) and Hurricane Delta (DR-4570-LA), which were both supported by Congressman Higgins.
The reimbursements include:
- $4,281,255.87 to the Jefferson Davis Electric Cooperative for management costs as a result of Hurricane Laura. The reimbursement is made at a 100% federal cost-share. This funding is authorized under Section 324 of the Robert T. Stafford Act.
- $1,215,791.45 to Lake Charles Memorial Hospital for emergency protective measures in response to Hurricane Delta. The reimbursement is made at a 75% federal cost-share. This funding is authorized under Section 403 of the Robert T. Stafford Act.
All funding will be delivered to the State of Louisiana. The state is responsible for disbursing the funds to each sub-recipient.

We continue to work with our federal partners to prioritize outstanding Public Assistance applications through FEMA as well as seeking to expedite delivery of long-term recovery resources.”
