WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Clay Higgins (R-LA) announced today that FEMA is awarding an additional $4,486,731.87 in Public Assistance reimbursements for hurricane recovery efforts in Southwest Louisiana.
The funding is made available through the major disaster declarations for Hurricane Laura (DR-4559-LA) and Hurricane Delta (DR-4570-LA), which Congressman Higgins supported.
The reimbursements include:
- $1,817,266.55 to Lake Charles Memorial Hospital for emergency protective measures in response to Hurricane Laura. The reimbursement is made at a 90% federal cost-share and authorized under Section 403 of the Robert T. Stafford Act.
- $1,463,631.87 to Louisiana State Police for emergency protective measures in response to Hurricane Laura. The reimbursement is made at a 100% federal cost-share and authorized under Section 403 of the Robert T. Stafford Act.
- $1,205,833.45 to the City of Lake Charles for emergency protective measures in response to Hurricane Delta. The reimbursement is made at a 90% federal cost-share and authorized under Section 403 of the Robert T. Stafford Act.
All funding will be delivered to the State of Louisiana. The state is responsible for disbursing the funds to each sub-recipient.
