WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Clay Higgins (R-LA) announced today that FEMA is awarding an additional $35,874,089.97 for Hurricane Laura recovery efforts in South Louisiana.
The grants include:
- $20,899,921.33 to Cameron Parish for debris removal operations in response to Hurricane Laura. This reimbursement is made at a 90% federal cost-share.
- $1,202,751.59 to Jeff Davis Electric Co-op for emergency protective measures as a result of Hurricane Laura. This reimbursement is made at a 90% federal cost-share.
- $1,080,713.93 to the Louisiana Department of Transportation & Development for debris removal in response to Hurricane Laura. This reimbursement is made at a 90% federal cost-share.
- $7,044,537.99 to the Louisiana Department of Transportation & Development for emergency protective measures as a result of Hurricane Laura. This reimbursement is made at a 100% federal cost-share.
- $5,646,165.13 to the Louisiana Office of RiskManagement for emergency protective measures as a result of Hurricane Laura. This reimbursement is made at a 100% federal cost-share.
All funding will be delivered to the State of Louisiana. The state is responsible for disbursing the funds to each sub-recipient.
Congressman Higgins spoke directly with FEMA Administrator Deanne Criswell last week and urged her to expedite Louisiana’s outstanding Public Assistance applications from the 2020 hurricane season. He also delivered a letter in September asking FEMA to address inspection delays and quickly approve pending applications from Cameron Parish.
