WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Clay Higgins (R-LA) announced today that FEMA is awarding an additional $26,121,043.20 in Public Assistance reimbursements for hurricane recovery efforts in South Louisiana.
The funding is made available through the major disaster declaration for Hurricane Laura (DR-4559-LA), which was supported by Congressman Higgins.
The reimbursements include:
- $11,047,518.82 to the City of Lake Charles for debris removal operations in response to Hurricane Laura. The reimbursement is made at a 100% federal cost-share. This funding is authorized under Section 407 of the Robert T. Stafford Act.
- $4,498,007.58 to the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office for emergency protective measures as a result of Hurricane Laura. The reimbursement is made at a 100% federal cost-share. This funding is authorized under Section 403 of the Robert T. Stafford Act.
- $1,078,972.31 to the Town of Welsh for substation electrical repairs as a result of Hurricane Laura. The reimbursement is made at a 90% federal cost-share. This funding is authorized under Section 406 of the Robert T. Stafford Act.
- $6,781,304.87 to the Louisiana Department of Transportation & Development for debris removal operations in response to Hurricane Laura. The reimbursement is made at a 100% federal cost-share. This funding is authorized under Section 428 of the Robert T. Stafford Act.
- $2,715,239.62 to the Louisiana Department of Agriculture & Forestry for emergency protective measures as a result of Hurricane Laura. The reimbursement is made at a 90% federal cost-share. This funding is authorized under Section 403 of the Robert T. Stafford Act.
All funding will be delivered to the State of Louisiana. The state is responsible for disbursing the funds to each sub-recipient.
