WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Clay Higgins (R-LA) announced today that FEMA is awarding an additional $1,938,382.25 in Public Assistance reimbursements for hurricane recovery efforts in South Louisiana.
The funding is made available through the major disaster declaration for Hurricane Laura (DR-4559-LA), which Congressman Higgins supported.
The Calcasieu Parish Police Jury will receive $1,938,382.25 for emergency protective measures in response to Hurricane Laura. The reimbursement is made at a 90% federal cost-share and authorized under Section 403 of the Robert T. Stafford Act.
While much of our official work to advance these projects occurs behind the scenes, these funding announcements are the result of constant backchannel efforts with FEMA and state and local stakeholders. All funding will be delivered to the State of Louisiana. The state is responsible for disbursing the funds to each sub-recipient.

Congressman Higgins issued the following statement:
“We have now delivered over $3.4 billion in response to Hurricanes Laura and Delta. We continue to work with FEMA and local entities to move applications through the reimbursement process. This funding provides additional support for recovery efforts in Calcasieu Parish. We will not stop working for Southwest Louisiana.”
