WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Clay Higgins (R-LA) announced today that FEMA is awarding an additional $17,636,795.45 in Public Assistance reimbursements for disaster recovery efforts in South Louisiana.
The funding is made available through the major disaster declarations for Hurricane Laura (DR-4559-LA) and the Severe Winter Storm (DR-4590-LA), which Congressman Higgins supported.
The reimbursements include:
- $1,363,908.22 to the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LADOTD) – District 3 for debris removal operations in response to Hurricane Laura. The reimbursement is made at a 90% federal cost-share and authorized under Section 428 of the Robert T. Stafford Act.
- $2,488,047.54 to the LADOTD – District 3 for debris removal operations in response to Hurricane Laura. The reimbursement is made at a 100% federal cost-share and authorized under Section 428 of the Robert T. Stafford Act.
- $11,291,912.15 to the LADOTD – District 7 for debris removal operations in response to Hurricane Laura. The reimbursement is made at a 90% federal cost-share and authorized under Section 428 of the Robert T. Stafford Act.
- $1,350,197.54 to Cameron Parish for management costs as a result of Hurricane Laura. The reimbursement is made at a 100% federal cost-share and authorized under Section 324 of the Robert T. Stafford Act.
- $1,142,730.00 to the Southwest Louisiana Hospital Association for emergency protective measures in response to the Severe Winter Storm. The reimbursement is made at a 90% federal cost-share and authorized under Section 403 of the Robert T. Stafford Act.
While much of our official work to advance these projects occurs behind the scenes, these funding announcements are the result of constant backchannel efforts with FEMA and state and local stakeholders. All funding will be delivered to the State of Louisiana. The state is responsible for disbursing the funds to each sub-recipient.
