Higgins Announces $3.5M for UL Lafayette, New Iberia Research Center
LAFAYETTE, LA – Congressman Clay Higgins (R-LA) announced today that the University of Louisiana at Lafayette (ULL) will be awarded a $3.5 million research facilities construction grant through the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). The grant will finance work at ULL’s New Iberia Research Center.
Congressman Higgins issued the following statement:
“It’s encouraging that the federal government is investing in ULL’s New Iberia Research Center. Their work and research product are essential for the future of health care in South Louisiana and beyond. This grant will help ULL improve and continue its research efforts. My office has passionately supported ULL, and I shall continue to do so. However, this era of challenge and division in our anointed nation requires honest, respectful deliberation. It is my hope that ULL administration leaders will devote as much consideration for Americans' Constitutional rights as they do for Americans' health care, for without unwavering devotion to our Constitution, we could find ourselves a well inoculated, but equally oppressed society. Students at ULL will benefit from the medical research that this grant supports… but those same students are free Americans, and their Constitutional protections are sacrosanct.”
