LAFAYETTE, LA – Congressman Clay Higgins (R-LA) announced today that the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD) will award over $2 million in Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) to Lafayette and Lake Charles. The funds are provided through the CARES Act and provide states and local governments with flexible funding for COVID-19 response efforts and other services.

  • Lafayette will receive a $1,392,777 CDBG.
  • Lake Charles will receive a $610,439 CDBG.

Congressman Higgins issued the following statement:

“Local government resources have been stretched thin due to the COVID-19 economic shutdowns, the downturn in the oil and gas industry, and now with Hurricane Laura. This investment will provide Lafayette and Lake Charles with flexible funding, and allows our local communities to direct resources where they are most needed. We will continue working with our federal and state partners to secure additional resources for Louisiana’s recovery.”
