WASHINGTON (Gray DC) – Weeks after Hurricane Laura hit Louisiana and left a path of devastation, Louisiana lawmakers are calling on the federal government for more assistance. With extensive damage across the state, leaders are asking for aid beyond what has already been given.

Senator John Kennedy (R-LA) is calling on Congress to approve additional funding for the state’s recovery effort saying if this extra money is not sent to the state, the people of Louisiana will be unable to fully recover. Rep. Clay Higgins (R-LA) is asking the Trump administration to share more of the cost in the recovery effort, a request that, if fulfilled, would boost the government’s share of the coverage from 75 percent to 90 percent.
