Congressman Higgins Joins Colleagues Urging for Reform to Red Snapper Management
Today, Congressman Higgins joined several House colleagues urging Secretary of Commerce Ross to utilize real-time, locally-generated data to better predict red snapper populations and improve access for recreational fishermen.
The federal government’s management system for red snapper is ineffective and misguided, using outdated science that restricts public access to this important fishery. With a new administration, there is an opportunity to implement common sense reforms that create a more equitable system.
