WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Clay Higgins (R-LA) voted to pass H. Con. Res. 14, a conservative budget resolution that begins the reconciliation process to advance key portions of President Trump’s agenda.

“One of the greatest threats to America’s future is financial collapse,” said Congressman Higgins. “The budget resolution passed today, while not perfect, is a step toward enacting President Trump’s America First agenda.  We are taking action to change the trajectory of spending, secure our borders, and restore economic prosperity.”

The budget resolution directs $2 trillion in deficit reduction, provides up to $300 billion for border security and defense, and enables the House Ways and Means Committee to extend the 2017 tax cuts and prevent tax increases on working Americans. The resolution also raises the debt ceiling to provide stability and to encourage steady economic growth.
