Congressman Clay Higgins (R-LA) and other members of the Louisiana delegation sent a letter to President Trump yesterday, urging the federal government to expedite its disaster declaration for Louisiana parishes affected by Hurricane Harvey.
Signing the letter are U.S. Sens. Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) and John Kennedy (R-LA), and U.S. Reps. Steve Scalise (R-LA), Cedric Richmond (D-LA), Clay Higgins (R-LA), Mike Johnson (R-LA), Ralph Abraham, M.D. (R-LA), and Garret Graves (R-LA).
“The federal government has already begun addressing the damage caused by this year’s hurricanes in Texas, Florida, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The devastation caused by Hurricane Harvey didn’t stop at the Louisiana-Texas state line and neither should our efforts to help displaced Americans recover,” said Congressman Higgins. “I’m prayerful that President Trump will quickly approve Louisiana’s disaster request so that Louisianians can finally receive the resources they need to recover.”
