WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Clay Higgins (R-LA) applauded Cheniere Energy’s announcement that it has signed two deals to sell liquefied natural gas (LNG) to the China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC).
“Southwest Louisiana continues to serve as the epicenter of the LNG boom, with Cheniere’s Sabine Pass terminal being the only operational export facility in the lower 48 states. LNG projects in Calcasieu and Cameron parishes are driving jobs and economic growth in the region. This announcement is indicative of the growth that we are seeing in American energy exports nationwide and aligned with our efforts to promote American energy dominance.”
This week,Governing magazine also named the Lake Charles metro area as the top medium-sized market in the nation – those with 100,000 to 500,000 employed – for growth during 2017. The area grew at a rate of 4.7%, well above the average 1.5% growth, which is attributed to numerous LNG and industrial construction projects underway.
