Congressman Clay Higgins (R-LA) announced today that he is cosponsoring H.J. Res. 2, the “Balanced Budget Amendment,” which proposes a constitutional amendment prohibiting outlays that exceed total receipts for the fiscal year. The U.S. House of Representatives will vote on the resolution this week.
Congressman Higgins issued the following statement:
“Our country faces an astounding $21 trillion debt. D.C. does not have a revenue problem, it has a spending problem. This is one of the most serious threats facing America’s economic security, and we must take action to eliminate waste, fraud, and abuse from the alphabet agencies of the federal government. A balanced budget amendment would mandate the kind of fiscal responsibility that is required to solve Washington’s reckless spending problem.”
