WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Clay Higgins (R-LA) issued the following statement after the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) issued two long-term orders authorizing additional liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports from Cheniere Energy’s Sabine Pass facility in Louisiana and Corpus Christi facility in Texas. The orders will allow the facilities to export additional natural gas as LNG to U.S. allies.
“The approval of additional export capacity for Cheniere’s Louisiana and Texas facilities is uplifting news. LNG supports jobs and economic prosperity in Louisiana. The industry also serves a critical role in America’s energy and national security strategy. While this announcement is encouraging, we need to do more to fast-track approval of LNG export permits as well as streamline the permitting process for new energy infrastructure.”
