WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Clay Higgins (R-LA) issued the following statement after voting against H.R. 1808, Democrats’ bill to ban “assault weapons.”
“Elitist, Democrat politicians are plotting to seize legally-purchased guns from law-abiding American citizens. This is yet another unconstitutional assault on the Second Amendment. I strongly opposed the Democrat bill, and I will continue to stand in defense of the Second Amendment. We’ll kill this bill in the Senate, and should we fail, a strong Article III challenge will quickly follow. I will not comply with unconstitutional oppression.”
