LAFAYETTE, LA – Congressman Clay Higgins (R-LA) commended the planned $1.5M investment for Tides Medical to upgrade its corporate headquarters and manufacturing facility in Lafayette. This expansion will allow the company to increase its production of amniotic skin substitutes that will treat chronic or difficult-to-heal wounds.
Tides Medical is a biotech company that manufactures and distributes skin substitutes that are made from donated human tissue. Their naturally derived solutions cover a variety of wound and surgical applications such as diabetic foot ulcers, venous leg ulcers, and burns.
The project is expected to create 40 new direct jobs, retain 77 existing jobs, and create an estimated 54 new indirect jobs, which will bring a total of 171 new and retained jobs in the Acadiana region.
Congressman Higgins issued the following statement:
“The Tides Medical investment in Lafayette is welcome news. This project will help those in need and create new jobs and economic opportunities for South Louisiana. We support private investments like this, which contribute greatly to Louisiana’s economy.”
