LAFAYETTE, LA – Congressman Clay Higgins released a statement in support of the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) final approval of an export authorization for the Venture Global CP2 LNG Project located in Cameron Parish, Louisiana.

Once built to full capacity, the CP2 facility at Venture Global will be able to export up to 3.96 billion cubic feet per day (Bcf/d) of liquid natural gas to non-free trade agreement countries, bringing employment opportunities and economic growth to Louisiana.

Since being elected, Congressman Higgins has been a vocal advocate for Louisiana’s LNG industry. In December 2024, Congressman Higgins sent a letter to incoming U.S. Secretary of Energy Chris Wright calling for immediate action to overturn the Biden administration’s LNG permitting moratorium. Congressman Higgins also asked Secretary Wright to expedite the review of pending applications, including Venture Global’s CP2 project. Read the letter here.

Congressman Higgins said, “Louisiana’s LNG industry provides our nation and the world with clean, reliable, and affordable energy. I commend President Trump and Secretary Wright for following through on their promise to unleash American energy by authorizing Venture Global’s CP2 LNG project and others. My office will continue to champion Louisiana’s LNG producers in the halls of Congress.”
