LAFAYETTE, LA – Congressman Clay Higgins (R-LA) issued a statement in support of the new Louisiana National Guard (LANG) readiness center in Lafayette, LA.

As a member of the House Armed Services Committee, Congressman Higgins has advocated for and worked to secure Louisiana priorities in the annual National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). Congressman Higgins helped secure the authorization of $33 million for the LANG’s readiness center in last year’s NDAA, with construction on the facility beginning earlier this month.

Congressman Higgins said, “The Louisiana National Guard is a crucial component of America’s national security. I’ve been honored to advocate for them on the House Armed Services Committee. Last week’s groundbreaking of the new readiness center in Lafayette marks a proud moment for our community and the state of Louisiana. I’m excited to see the Lafayette readiness center come to fruition, and I will continue to work closely with the Louisiana National Guard to deliver on priorities for our state.”

Congressman Higgins has consistently worked to serve America’s military men and women. Earlier this fall, Congressman Higgins joined a contingent of LANG soldiers on foot patrol in Washington D.C. The deployment was part of President Trump’s effort to restore law and order in the nation’s capital.
