WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Clay Higgins (R-LA) announced today that he will serve on the House Committees on Armed Services, Oversight and Government Reform, and Homeland Security during the 119th Congress.
“I am honored to join Chairmen Comer, Green, Rogers, and my colleagues once again on these significant committees,” said Congressman Higgins. “We will have seniority and a subcommittee gavel in Oversight to continue important investigations into the weaponization of government. Each of our committee and subcommittee assignments has a deep connection to Louisiana, and I will use my positions to deliver wins for our state, and by extension, all of America.”
On the Armed Services Committee, Congressman Higgins will serve on the Seapower and Projection Forces Subcommittee, which has jurisdiction over the Navy and Marine Corps programs related to shipbuilding, conversion, and repair as well as Air Force programs related to bomber, tanker, and airlift aircraft. He will also serve on the Readiness Subcommittee, which oversees programs related to military training, logistics and maintenance, military construction, and military installations.
On the Oversight and Government Reform Committee, Congressman Higgins will serve as the Chairman of the Federal Law Enforcement Subcommittee, which will have oversight jurisdiction of homeland security, criminal justice, federal law and regulatory enforcement, and the U.S. border and immigration. He will also serve on the Economic Growth, Energy Policy, and Regulatory Affairs Subcommittee, which has jurisdiction over regulatory affairs, labor policies and impediments to economic growth and job creation.
On the Homeland Security Committee, Congressman Higgins will serve on the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Protection Subcommittee, which has jurisdiction over federal networks and critical infrastructure. He will also serve on the Transportation and Maritime Security Subcommittee, which oversees the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and U.S. Coast Guard as well as port and maritime security operations.
