WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Clay Higgins (R-LA) issued the following statement in response to the Louisiana Legislature’s Joint Transportation Committee vote to advance Governor Landry’s proposal for the replacement of the I-10 Calcasieu River Bridge.

“Today’s vote marks a significant milestone for our efforts to replace the I-10 Calcasieu River Bridge. I commend Governor Jeff Landry for his work to renegotiate the P3 proposal and secure a better deal for Louisiana’s citizenry. We are moving forward to construct a new bridge in Lake Charles.

“Since coming to Congress, my office has worked closely with local and state leaders to advance this project. We will continue to assist the State in securing additional federal funding for the I-10 Calcasieu River Bridge, and we will support any application for federal resources submitted by the State.”
