WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Clay Higgins (R-LA) voted to pass H.R. 467, the HALT Fentanyl Act, which would make the class-wide scheduling order for fentanyl-related substances permanent.
This legislation would ensure that law enforcement officers have the tools they need to keep these illicit and dangerous drugs off our streets and ensure research efforts to better understand the effects of fentanyl-related substances on people’s health.
“The complete loss of operational control at our southern border has given criminal cartels the ability to send fentanyl and other deadly drugs across our border at unprecedented rates,”said Congressman Higgins. “Fentanyl continues to infiltrate our communities coast to coast and wreak havoc on families. We must prevent this poison from reaching further into American communities, and this bill will help do that.”
