WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Clay Higgins (R-LA) announced today that the Department of Transportation (DOT) is awarding $10,328,099.00 in federal grants to improve natural gas infrastructure in Morgan City and Carencro.

The grants include:

  • $6,882,339.00 to Morgan City to improve the safe distribution of high-risk, leak-prone natural gas infrastructure.
  • $3,445,760.00 to Carencro to improve the safe distribution of high-risk, leak-prone natural gas infrastructure.

“While I opposed the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act in its totality as a matter of principle, some of the proposals within the bill were solid. Ultimately, the bill became law, and the funding has been allocated. We continue to advocate for the advancement of Louisiana projects,” said Congressman Higgins. “This funding will provide much needed resources to improve the safety of our energy infrastructure so that our communities can continue to progress toward a safe and healthy future.”
