WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Clay Higgins (R-LA), Chairman James Comer (R-KY), and Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) sent a letter on behalf of the Oversight Committee to DC Mayor Muriel Bowser to demand accountability for the treatment and holding of January 6 pre-trial detainees.

“These Americans have been held without bond under the most horrific conditions for 2 years. Solitary confinement, abuse, denied access to communication, denied ability to meaningfully participate in their own defense, denied access to discovery, denied access to prescribed medications, starved, beaten, tortured. By God, their suffering will be revealed, and their persecutors will be held to account. The oppressors will face justice… DC government, FBI, DOJ… all of them.”

“The Committee is concerned by reports that January 6 detainees are facing a unique form of mistreatment due to their politics and beliefs, representing potential several human rights abuses,” writes the Committee.
