Much of our official Congressional work to advance projects occurs unseen, over the course of many months. Funding finalization and the associated formal announcement of funding are the result of constant efforts with FEMA and state and local stakeholders. All funding will be delivered to the State of Louisiana. The state is responsible for disbursing the funds to each sub-recipient.

A more extensive timeline of Congressman Higgins’ actions on hurricane recovery is available here.

Congressman Higgins issued the following statement:

“We have now delivered over $3.5 billion in response to Hurricanes Laura and Delta. My office continues to work closely with FEMA and our state and local partners to deliver additional recovery funds. These reimbursements provide much-needed support for the Calcasieu Parish School Board and the City of Sulphur. We will not stop working for Southwest Louisiana.”
