WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Clay Higgins (R-LA) announced today that FEMA is awarding an additional $12,835,783.58 in Public Assistance reimbursements for hurricane recovery efforts in South Louisiana.
The funding is made available through the major disaster declaration for Hurricane Laura (DR-4559-LA) and Hurricane Delta (DR-4570-LA), which Congressman Higgins supported.
The reimbursements include:
- $2,219,942.14 to the Southwest Louisiana Electric Membership Corp (SLEMCO) for utility repairs in response to Hurricane Laura. The reimbursement is made at a 90% federal cost-share and authorized under Section 406 of the Robert T. Stafford Act.
- $5,769,062.96 to the Calcasieu Parish School Board for repairs at Lewis Middle School in response to Hurricane Laura. The reimbursement is made at a 90% federal cost-share and authorized under Section 406 of the Robert T. Stafford Act.
- $2,849,080.97 to The Lord’s Outreach Ministries for repairs in response to Hurricane Laura. The reimbursement is made at a 90% federal cost-share and authorized under Section 406 of the Robert T. Stafford Act.
- $1,997,697.51 to the Louisiana Department of Agriculture & Forestry for emergency protective measures as a result of Hurricane Delta. The reimbursement is made at a 90% federal cost-share and authorized under Section 403 of the Robert T. Stafford Act.
Much of our official Congressional work to advance projects occurs unseen, over the course of many months. Funding finalization and the associated formal announcement of funding are the result of constant efforts with FEMA and state and local stakeholders.All funding will be delivered to the State of Louisiana. The state is responsible for disbursing the funds to each sub-recipient.
