LAKE CHARLES, LA – Congressman Clay Higgins (R-LA) announced today that FEMA is awarding the Calcasieu Parish School Board (CPSB) an additional $2,923,904.94 in Public Assistance reimbursements for hurricane recovery efforts.
The funding is made available through the major disaster declaration for Hurricane Laura (DR-4559-LA), which Congressman Higgins supported.
The reimbursements include:
- $606,807.00 for repairs to the DeQuincy High School Gymnasium.
- $99,028.71 for repairs at Barbe Elementary School.
- $234,437.82 for repairs at DeQuincy High School.
- $588,833.88 for repairs at Brentwood Elementary School.
- $38,172.49 for repairs at Henry Heights Elementary School.
- $58,441.59 for repairs at the Sulphur High 9th Grade School.
- $409,014.90 for repairs to Calcasieu Parish’s Assessment Building.
- $466,920.90 for repairs at Reynaud Middle School.
- $13,167.26 for repairs to the Sales Tax Office.
- $99,754.74 for repairs at T.S. Cooley Elementary School.
- $91,373.54 for repairs at Brenda Hunter Head Start.
- $76,430.13 for repairs at Western Heights Elementary School.
- $63,138.73 for repairs at R.W. Vincent Elementary School.
- $78,383.25 for repairs at J.D. Clifton Elementary School.
While much of our official work to advance these projects occurs behind the scenes, these funding announcements are the result of constant backchannel efforts with FEMA and state and local stakeholders. All funding will be delivered to the State of Louisiana. The state is responsible for disbursing the funds to each sub-recipient.
