WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Clay Higgins (R-LA), the top Republican on the House Homeland Security Subcommittee on Border Security, issued the following statement in response to media reports that Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is mass releasing Cuban, Venezuelan, Nicaraguan, and some Columbian migrants under parole authority. This broad application of parole authority is in contradiction to 8 CFR § 212.5, which allows parole on a case-by-case basis for “urgent humanitarian reasons” or “significant public benefit.”
“Republicans will be sworn into majority control in Congress on January 3rd, 2023. Beginning that day, America begins winning again, the cartels begin losing again, and men like Secretary Mayorkas and Blinken can expect the full investigatory powers of Congress to descend upon their lives and extinguish their forever stained careers.”
“When we win in November, Republicans will stop the bleeding of our nation. And when we take the White House, we’ll restore American strength, our borders will be secured and some Biden administration executives could end up in prison.”
