WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Clay Higgins (R-LA) announced today the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Transportation, and Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies (THUD) introduced and passed legislation that includes his request for the University Avenue Corridor project in Lafayette.
If enacted, the bill would provide $5 million to the Department of Transportation’s local transportation priorities account for construction on the University Avenue Corridor project.
“It’s good to see my funding request for the University Avenue Gateway corridor project included in the House Transportation and Housing and Urban Development bill,”said Congressman Higgins.“Improvements to the University Avenue corridor will upgrade existing infrastructure and deliver new economic development opportunities for the area. This has been a top priority for Lafayette leaders, and our office has worked closely with them to advance this project at the federal level.”
Earlier this week, Congressman Higgins announced that the House Energy and Water spending bill included his requests for the Southwest Coastal Louisiana hurricane protection project and the Port of Iberia. Congressman Higgins also secured funding in a House-passed surface transportation bill for the I-10 Calcasieu River Bridge and the I-49 Lafayette Connector earlier this month.
