LAFAYETTE, LA – Congressman Clay Higgins (R-LA) delivered a letter to mayors, parish presidents, and police juries across Louisiana’s 3rd District informing of federal grant opportunities that are available to address flood and disaster mitigation.
“As South Louisiana continues to recover from a year of devastating natural disasters, I am writing to inform you of federal grant opportunities that can help our communities rebuild,”wrote Congressman Higgins.“We must work together to address long-standing drainage, water management, and flood mitigation needs. While my office continues to push for supplemental disaster assistance at the federal level, many federal grant programs are already approved and available.”
The letter specifically mentions FEMA’s Hazard Mitigation Grant Program, Flood Mitigation Assistance, Building Resilient Infrastructure & Communities, and disaster-specific Public Assistance programs.
“Though these resources have been made available, it is incumbent upon state and local officials to apply for these grants. If you have not already, I urge you to aggressively pursue these resources,” wrote Congressman Higgins.
