LAFAYETTE, LA – Congressman Clay Higgins (R-LA) is calling on Governor John Bel Edwards to sign four pro-gun bills that passed through the Louisiana State Legislature.
- HB 746, allows those who lawfully possess a firearm to carry concealed during a mandatory evacuation under a declared state of emergency or disaster.
- HB 781, deems firearms and ammunition manufacturers, distributors, wholesalers, suppliers, and retailers as “Essential Businesses.”
- HB 140, prevents local authorities and municipalities from creating localized restrictions on the possession of a firearm
- HB 334, allows individuals with a concealed carry permit to carry a concealed handgun in a church, synagogue, mosque, or similar place of worship with permission from church leadership.
Congressman Higgins issued the following statement:
“Louisiana recognizes the importance of legal gun ownership. We support the Second Amendment and our constitutional right to bear arms. I urge Governor Edwards to stand for the Second Amendment and sign the four bills that are sitting on his desk.”
