WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Clay Higgins (R-LA) is introducing legislation that would allow President Trump to temporarily suspend 2020 Census activities for the duration of the COVID-19 threat.
Congressman Higgins issued the following statement:
“Coronavirus has already and will continue to cause major disruptions to 2020 Census operations. This bill ensures that President Trump can take all necessary action to prioritize the health and safety of American citizens for as long as the COVID-19 threat persists. Getting accurate data from the 2020 Census is our primary goal. A temporary delay may be necessary to achieve an accurate count, and we’re providing the President with that authority. In the meantime, I encourage all Americans to go online and complete their Census questionnaire at my2020census.gov.”
