WASHINGTON, D.C.— Congressman Clay Higgins (R-LA) commended Department of Energy Secretary Rick Perry and Polish President Andrzej Duda for their visit to Cheniere’s Sabine Pass LNG terminal on Friday.
In the past year, Poland signed multiple contracts with American firms, totaling more than $25 billion to buy 6 billion cubic meters of liquefied natural gas (LNG). Earlier this week Poland and the United States signed a new $8 billion contract to buy an additional 2 billion cubic meters of LNG.
Congressman Higgins issued the following statement:
“Secretary Perry and President Duda’s visit reinforces the significant role of Southwest Louisiana in achieving American energy dominance. Cheniere’s Sabine Pass terminal already exports major quantities of LNG to Poland, and this week’s announced deal strengthens that relationship. This is a win for American LNG, American jobs, and Southwest Louisiana. Working closely with President Trump and his administration, we’re going to continue pushing American energy dominance on a global scale.”
“Further, I was impressed with Poland’s commitment to American leadership and vision for Europe when I was briefed by President Duda and his senior executive council during an official mission to Poland in 2017.”
