LAFAYETTE, LA – Congressman Clay Higgins (R-LA) joined Vice President Mike Pence during his visit to St. Landry Parish today. The Vice President visited Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, one of three historically black Baptist churches destroyed by an arsonist in late March and early April.
Congressman Higgins issued the following statement:
“I very much respect Vice President Pence for visiting St. Landry Parish today. His words of support provide solace and encouragement as our community continues to heal and begin the rebuilding process. Louisiana is strong in faith. The way that this hateful crime was handled and the outpouring of support that followed is a testament that our combined spirit can overcome any evil. Faith is our most powerful resource, and we will continue to support these churches and the congregations as they rebuild.”
