WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Clay Higgins (R-LA) voted for a continuing resolution after President Trump’s request for $5.7 billion in funding for the border wall was included in a revised version of the bill.
Congressman Higgins issued the following statement:
“Once Speaker Pelosi takes the gavel on January 3rd, any measure of enhanced border security will be dead on arrival. The time to act is now. Securing funding for enhanced physical barriers is mission critical for our border agents.
“As Democrats continue to obstruct funding for border security, the situation on our southern border grows worse. Senate Democrats will use the cloture rule to block this bill. They will once again prioritize illegal immigrants over American citizens. We could end this shutdown fight and deliver wall funding by suspending the Senate cloture rule.
“I stand with President Trump and am prepared to do what’s necessary to secure our border.”
