Congressman Clay Higgins (R-LA) voted to pass a one-week extension of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP), which allows the Senate additional time to approve a longer extension this month. The program was set to expire on November 30, 2018.
The House has now passed eight short-term NFIP reauthorizations since the end of FY 2017.
Congressman Higgins issued the following statement:
“This is the eighth short-term extension that we’ve been forced to pass while the Senate has failed to act. Louisiana families deserve the certainty that comes with long-term reauthorization and reform of the National Flood Insurance Program. My office remains focused on securing reforms that protect affordability, improve flood plain mapping, and expand pre-disaster mitigation efforts.”
