Congressman Clay Higgins (R-La.) issued the following statement this week after President Trump proposed an across-the-board spending cut of 5% to all federal agencies.
“The alphabet agencies of the federal government are plagued with waste, fraud, and abuse. President Trump knows this and is right to confront the challenge. I generally don’t support across the board cuts, I believe decreasing the budgets of the varied Federal agencies should be aggressive, yes… but surgically aggressive. Overall, I agree completely that we must take action to reduce the size and scope of the federal government and cut spending. However, we must restore our military might and secure our sovereign borders. Further, the status quo budgeting process in Washington is broken. We must return to regular order, protect conservative priorities, and fight for a balanced budget amendment. I’ll continue to be a strong voice for these policies.”
