Congressman Clay Higgins (R-LA) announced today that the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury will receive $3,364,520 in funding from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). The hazard mitigation grant will finance the acquisition and elevation of several residential properties as part of flood mitigation efforts.
Congressman Higgins issued the following statement:
“My office has made flood mitigation and maintenance of water management systems a top infrastructure priority. Pre-disaster mitigation investments like this make our communities more resilient and can save taxpayers billions in recovery costs. I want to commend the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury for their initiative in seeking this much-needed flood mitigation grant.”
